Professor Leke, is currently the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Hematology and Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Yaounde I. She has spent the last decades trying to decode malaria, which is endemic in most of West Africa. She has particularly focused on understanding its effects during pregnancy both to the pregnant mother and the fetus. Her accomplishments are but a dream for most in the research community and her tenacity, drive and singular focus have distinguished her among researchers worldwide but especially in Africa. She is not only a great role model but a representation of le crème de la crème within the academic community. This award was created to recognize the contributions of Cameroonians in both hard and soft science. Professor Leke has distinguished herself and deserves our recognition and support.

Yves, in 2005, was able to convinced DISH Network, a Fortune 500 company and second largest satellite operator in the US with more than 20 million household viewers, of the existence of a vibrant and viable African Market which lead to the launch the first African Television channel on a major US platform nationwide. With his vision and leadership, more that 87 million people in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States have been exposed to the African Culture and Africans in the Diaspora can stay connected to their African Roots. He has used tact and leadership to break new ground in the USA and has brought visibility to the African Diaspora as well as great pride to Cameroon.
